PSPACE Reasoning for Graded Modal Logics
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a PSPACE algorithm that decides satisfiability of the graded modal logic Gr(KR)—a natural extension of propositional modal logic KR by counting expressions—which plays an important role in the area of knowledge representation. The algorithm employs a tableaux approach and is the first known algorithm which meets the lower bound for the complexity of the problem. Thus, we exactly fix the complexity of the problem and refute a EXPTIME-hardness conjecture. We extend the results to the logic Gr(K R −1 ∩ ), which augments Gr(KR) with inverse relations and intersection of accessibility relations. This establishes a kind of “theoretical benchmark” that all algorithmic approaches can be measured against.

Coalgebraic Hybrid Logic
We introduce a generic framework for hybrid logics, i.e. modal logics additionally featuring nominals and satisfaction operators, thus providing the necessary facilities for reasoning about individual states in a model. This framework, coalgebraic hybrid logic, works at the same level of generality as coalgebraic modal logic, and in particular subsumes, besides normal hybrid logics such as hybr...
متن کاملCoLoSS : The Coalgebraic Logic Satisfiability Solver ( System Description ) Georgel Calin
CoLoSS, the Coalgebraic Logic Satisfiability Solver, decides satisfiability of modal formulas in a generic and compositional way. It implements a uniform polynomial space algorithm to decide satisfiability for modal logics that are amenable to coalgebraic semantics. This includes e.g. the logics K, KD, Pauly’s coalition logic, graded modal logic, and probabilistic modal logic. Logics are easily...
متن کاملComplexity of Modal Logics with Presburger Constraints 1 Stéphane
We introduce the extended modal logic EXML with regularity constraints and full Presburger constraints on the number of children that generalize graded modalities, also known as number restrictions in description logics. We show that EXML satisfiability is only pspace-complete by designing a Ladner-like algorithm. This extends a well-known and non-trivial pspace upper bound for graded modal log...

We show that PML satisfiability is only pspacecomplete by designing a Ladner-like algorithm. This extends a wellknown and non-trivial pspace upper bound for graded modal logic. ...
متن کاملComplexity results for logics of local reasoning and inconsistent belief
Fagin, Halpern, Moses, and Vardi have proposed a framework of epistemic agents with multiple “frames of mind” (local-reasoning structures), to solve problems concerning inconsistent knowledge and logical omniscience. We investigate a class of related modal logics. These logics replace the usual closure under full conjunction for the ¤ operator with progressively weaker versions, and comprise a ...
